Utah Tech is entering a new era in St. George
Greater Zion Stadium has hosted Division I football long enough for the program to stop being a novelty. The Trailblazers announced in June 2025 that they accepted an invitation to the Big Sky Conference, with 13 of 16 sports making the move for 2026-27.
That changes how the football page reads. The current season is a bridge year. The coaching staff, the roster, and the non-conference scheduling all have to carry weight into the Big Sky slate that follows.
What the current official source record shows
Deacon Hill is the quarterback the program chose to carry that bridge. Utah Tech's own season-opener release confirmed Hill as the returning veteran after he started four of five games in 2024 before a season-ending injury. His path runs through Wisconsin and Iowa, where he started nine games and helped the Hawkeyes to a Big Ten championship appearance in 2023.
That is an unusual resume for an FCS roster, and it is on the record at utahtechtrailblazers.com rather than being guessed at.
