Where Southern Utah competes

Southern Utah competes in NCAA Division I from Cedar City. It was a Big Sky member from 2012 to 2022, when it joined the Western Athletic Conference, and it rejoined the Big Sky on July 1, 2026. The Big Sky's announcement said 14 Thunderbird teams would compete for its championships.

The first fall back in the Big Sky

Southern Utah football was 1-4 and 0-2 in the Big Sky after a 28-24 home loss to Idaho State on September 26, 2026; its one win was a 47-42 Beehive Bowl victory over Weber State. Women's soccer finished nonconference play 3-5-1 under first-year head coach Steven Lindquist. In women's golf, freshman Saylar May won medalist honors at the Wolverine Invitational and tied for third at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate.
