UVU Men's Soccer

Utah Valley men's soccer plays its home matches at UCCU Stadium in Orem and, from July 1, 2026, competes in the Big West Conference after its years in the WAC. Michael Chesler is the head coach, the third in the program's 12-year history. UVU named him on November 25, 2025, ten days after Kyle Beckerman resigned following five seasons and a 35-31-17 record.

Chesler is from Highland, attended Mountain View High School in Orem and has spent nine seasons on the UVU staff across three stints, according to the university's announcement.

Six matches before the Big West

As of September 23, the Wolverines were 4-0-2 and one of 12 unbeaten teams left nationally, according to UVU's September 22 release. Their only goals conceded came in the 2-1 home win over Pacific on August 20, Chesler's first as head coach, and in draws with Omaha and Utah Tech plus the win at Marshall. UVU's 0.67 goals-against average led the Big West and ranked 15th nationally in that release.

The result that changed the season came on September 11 at No. 20/12 Marshall. Utah Valley won 2-1, its first win over a ranked team away from home after going 0-7-2 in those matches. Adem Arous headed in his first NCAA goal, and 20 seconds into the second half a volley from Landon Christiansen, set up by freshman Luca Wingaa Laursen, went in off Marshall's Joao Alves. The official box score credits that goal to the UVU team as an own goal. Kolby Sessions made five saves, according to UVU's recap, and Toke Amtrup and Jeremie Kuelo each cleared a shot off the goal line.

UVU then drew 1-1 at Utah Tech in the Old Hammer Rivalry on September 21, with Brayden Tester scoring from Dan McKay's assist.

The Big West schedule

Big West play opened with a 2-0 home win over UC Irvine on September 30. UVU then lost 3-2 at UC Santa Barbara on October 3, won 2-1 at Cal State Fullerton on October 7, beat Sacramento State 3-0 at home on October 10 and lost 3-1 at Cal Poly, a nonconference Pac-12 crossover match, on October 14, per UVU's schedule. UVU beat CSUN 1-0 at home on October 17, a win its recap said secured home field for the Big West semifinal on November 7, and drew 2-2 at San Diego State, another Pac-12 crossover, on October 21. On Senior Night on October 24 it beat Oregon State, ranked No. 21 as UVU's recap stated it, 1-0 on Jose Luis Martin Montealegre's 84th-minute goal, which UVU's recap called the program's first home win over a ranked opponent since 2017. On October 31 it won 3-2 at Cal State Bakersfield to clinch the Big West regular-season title in its first Big West season: Montealegre set up Oliver Watts's 21st-minute opener and scored twice, including the 85th-minute clincher. UVU's recap called it the program's first league title in 10 years, its only other having come in the WAC in 2016, and said the No. 1 seed brings home field for the Big West semifinal at UCCU Stadium on November 7. That left UVU 10-2-3 and 5-1 in the Big West as of November 1. The Big West final is scheduled for November 13 at the higher seed's campus.
