UVU Men's Soccer

Utah Valley men's soccer plays its home matches at UCCU Stadium in Orem and, from July 1, 2026, competes in the Big West Conference after its years in the WAC. Michael Chesler is the head coach, the third in the program's 12-year history. UVU named him on November 25, 2025, ten days after Kyle Beckerman resigned following five seasons and a 35-31-17 record.

Chesler is from Highland, attended Mountain View High School in Orem and has spent nine seasons on the UVU staff across three stints, according to the university's announcement.

Six matches before the Big West

As of September 23, the Wolverines were 4-0-2 and one of 12 unbeaten teams left nationally, according to UVU's September 22 release. Their only goals conceded came in the 2-1 home win over Pacific on August 20, Chesler's first as head coach, and in draws with Omaha and Utah Tech plus the win at Marshall. UVU's 0.67 goals-against average led the Big West and ranked 15th nationally in that release.

The result that changed the season came on September 11 at No. 20/12 Marshall. Utah Valley won 2-1, its first win over a ranked team away from home after going 0-7-2 in those matches. Adem Arous headed in his first NCAA goal, and 20 seconds into the second half a volley from Landon Christiansen, set up by freshman Luca Wingaa Laursen, went in off Marshall's Joao Alves. The official box score credits that goal to the UVU team as an own goal. Kolby Sessions made five saves, according to UVU's recap, and Toke Amtrup and Jeremie Kuelo each cleared a shot off the goal line.

UVU then drew 1-1 at Utah Tech in the Old Hammer Rivalry on September 21, with Brayden Tester scoring from Dan McKay's assist.

Rankings, with dates

UVU entered the United Soccer Coaches poll at No. 22 on September 15. On September 22 it was No. 21 in the College Soccer News Coaches Poll and No. 24 in both the United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer rankings. Rankings change weekly; each one here is tied to its date.

The Big West schedule

The official schedule, checked September 23, opens Big West play at home against UC Irvine on Wednesday, September 30, at 7 p.m. MT. The remaining regular season includes home matches against Sacramento State (October 10), CSUN (October 17, a doubleheader with the women's team) and Oregon State on Senior Night (October 24), and road trips to UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, San Diego State and Cal State Bakersfield. The Big West semifinal and final are scheduled for November 7 and 13 at the higher seed's campus. The UCCU Stadium guide lists every home kickoff, tickets and parking.

Who is on the roster

The 2026 roster lists 29 players and one Team IMPACT member. Twelve players list Utah hometowns, among them Sessions (Holladay, Judge Memorial), Naime Odeh (West Haven, Fremont High), Max Palmer (South Jordan, by way of Snow College) and Jackson Medina (Heber City, Wasatch High). Fourteen come from outside the United States, four of them from Denmark.
