UVU Volleyball
Utah Valley volleyball, which won a WAC title in 2025, was 4-11 and 2-1 in its first Big West season as of Oct. 3, 2026, after opening league play with home wins over UC Riverside and California Baptist under head coach Sam Atoa.
About UVU Volleyball
Utah Valley volleyball plays at Lockhart Arena in Orem under head coach Sam Atoa. The Wolverines won a Western Athletic Conference title in 2025 and received their championship rings before the Green vs. White scrimmage on August 19, 2026, when Avery Page was also honoured for her All-American season. Those are WAC honours from the season before the move. UVU joined the Big West on July 1, 2026.
2026 before conference play
UVU went 2-10 in nonconference play, as the official schedule showed on September 24. The opening weekend at Lockhart Arena brought losses to Utah Tech, Utah and Oregon State. Madi Standifird recorded a career-high 17 kills in the opener against Utah Tech on August 28. The two wins both went five sets, against Kansas City on September 11 and Radford on September 12 in Kansas City, Missouri.
The in-state stretch ended the nonconference schedule: a 3-0 loss at then-No. 24 BYU on September 15, a 3-1 loss at Utah State on September 17, and a 3-1 home loss to Weber State on September 19. UVU's preview of the Big West opener says Weber State transfer Brielle Rueckert hit .377 with 25 kills over those three matches, Alyvia Watkins added 18 kills, and setter Evalyn Medaris played her 100th career match.
The Big West opener
UVU opened Big West play at Lockhart Arena with a 3-0 win over UC Riverside on September 24, its first sweep of the season, and a 3-2 comeback against California Baptist, a former WAC rival, on September 26. It is the third conference UVU has played in since moving to Division I.
UC Santa Barbara won 3-0 at Lockhart Arena on October 1, and the four-match homestand ends with Cal Poly on October 3. The Big West tournament is scheduled for November 25-28 in San Luis Obispo.
Who is on the roster
The 2026 roster lists 16 players, nine of them from Utah. They include Standifird and Myka Christensen from Lehi (Skyridge), Rueckert from Provo (Timpview), Watkins from Morgan, Medaris from Bountiful and libero Lani Toutai from West Jordan. Two players list Salt Lake Community College as their previous school: Christensen and Kambri Kuhni of Orem.
