UVU Women's Soccer

Utah Valley women's soccer plays at UCCU Stadium in Orem under head coach Chris Lemay. It arrived in the Big West on July 1, 2026, as the WAC's four-time defending regular-season champion, and on September 23 it became the first UVU team to play a Big West match in any sport.

The WAC years, dated

In 2025, UVU clinched a fourth straight WAC regular-season title on October 30 and finished 9-0-1 in league play. It lost the WAC tournament final on penalties to California Baptist after a 2-2 draw, then earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, its fifth appearance, and lost 2-1 in double overtime at No. 12 Colorado on November 14. The season ended 14-5-3. Those are WAC honours from the season before the move, not Big West ones.

2026 before conference play

UVU went 4-4-1 in nine nonconference matches, as of September 19. The best result was a 2-1 home win over No. 17 Kansas on August 27, with goals from Malia Jessop and Sadie Beardall. In Honolulu, the Wolverines beat Washington State 1-0 and New Mexico State 4-0 to win the OUTRIGGER No Ka Oi title, where freshman goalkeeper Madeleine Boucher was named tournament MVP after 180 minutes without conceding. Senior defender Mia Owens, who also played all 180 minutes, was named the Big West's Defensive Player of the Week on September 7, the program's first Big West weekly award.

The four defeats were all by one or two goals: 2-0 to Utah, 1-0 to Utah State, 2-1 to San Diego State on a late goal, and 2-1 at Gonzaga. On September 19, Josie Clawson scored twice and Nixan Jackson assisted all three goals in a 3-0 win over Weber State, Boucher's third shutout.

The Big West opener

On September 23 at UCCU Stadium, Utah Valley beat Cal State Bakersfield 7-1. Beardall and sophomore Brynlee Austin scored twice each, and Jackson, Clawson and Tess Livingston once each. UVU outshot the Roadrunners 31-3. Boucher played the first 80 minutes in goal.

What comes next

The official schedule, checked September 23, sends UVU to UC San Diego on Saturday, September 26 (8 p.m. MT), and UC Irvine on September 30. The remaining home matches are Cal State Fullerton (October 3, Pink Out), UC Riverside (October 17, Senior Night), Sacramento State (October 21) and Long Beach State (October 28). Who is on the roster

The 2026 roster lists 26 players, 14 of them from Utah, including Jackson (Mapleton, Maple Mountain), Beardall (South Ogden, Bonneville), Clawson (American Fork), Austin (Kaysville, Farmington) and three Orem natives from Timpanogos and Mountain View high schools. Boucher is from Hamilton, Ontario, and Owens from San Clemente, California.
