The 2027 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships come to Utah from January 5 to 10, 2027, the first time the national championships have been held in the state since 1999, according to U.S. Figure Skating. Every championship-level practice and competition takes place at the Maverik Center, which U.S. Figure Skating describes as the host venue for figure skating at the 2034 Olympic Winter Games and the site of ice hockey at the 2002 Games. The dates, venues, session schedule, tickets and qualifying path below come from U.S. Figure Skating's official pages, read on October 16, 2026.
When and where are the 2027 U.S. Figure Skating Championships?
The championship level runs January 5 to 10, 2027, at the Maverik Center. U.S. Figure Skating's event page says the field includes athletes who represented the United States at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, and frames the event as part of the road to the 2030 and 2034 Games.
A second set of events follows immediately. Juvenile, intermediate, novice and junior practices and competition take place from January 10 to 14 at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex, which U.S. Figure Skating notes was an official practice site for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and hosted the ISU Challenger Series from 2014 to 2019. New for 2027, the juvenile, intermediate and novice levels compete at the U.S. Figure Skating Development Team Championships.
The championship session schedule
U.S. Figure Skating's event page lists the championship schedule in Mountain Time and says it is subject to change:

How do skaters qualify for the U.S. Championships?
One qualifying path runs through U.S. Figure Skating's National Qualifying Series. Its February 2 announcement says nearly 1,500 skaters compete at 21 qualifying events in singles, pairs and ice dance from July through October, ending with the National Qualifying Series Finals in November. Top skaters at each level then advance to the Eastern, Midwestern and Pacific Coast Sectional Singles Finals and the U.S. Pairs and U.S. Ice Dance Finals, which U.S. Figure Skating calls one of the qualifying pipelines to the national championships.
Utah hosted one of those qualifying events: Oktoberfest, a singles competition in Cottonwood Heights from September 17 to 20, 2026, per the announcement.
The finals are scheduled for November:
- Eastern Sectional Singles and U.S. Pairs Final: November 2-8, Norwood, Massachusetts
- Midwestern Sectional Singles and U.S. Ice Dance Final: November 9-15, Bloomfield Township, Michigan
- Pacific Coast Sectional Singles Final: San Jose, California, at Sharks Ice at San Jose. The Pacific Coast event page lists November 16 to 21; the February announcement listed November 16 to 22.
The February announcement adds that juvenile, intermediate and novice skaters can advance from the finals to the new U.S. Development Team Championships, the event that comes to the Salt Lake City Sports Complex in January.
Tickets, streaming and volunteering
All-session, weekend and single-session tickets for the championship level are on sale through U.S. Figure Skating. Its October 1 release says single-session pricing varies by session and that tickets for the junior through juvenile events go on sale in late November. The championships stream live on Peacock and remain available there for 72 hours after the event ends, per the event page. Volunteer registration is open through U.S. Figure Skating, which lists events@usfigureskating.org for questions.
The Maverik Center and Utah 2034
U.S. Figure Skating calls the Maverik Center the host venue for figure skating at the 2034 Winter Games, so January's championships put the national field in that building seven years early. The wider Games program is tracked on the Utah 2034 hub. Families and clubs of skaters who train in Utah can share details ahead of January through the feature form; nothing about an individual skater is published until it is checked against U.S. Figure Skating's official results.
