Jaelin Kauf came home from Milano Cortina 2026 with two Olympic silver medals, in moguls on Feb. 11, 2026, and in dual moguls three days later, both at Livigno. Added to her silver from Beijing 2022, the second made her the most successful U.S. Olympic moguls skier of all time, U.S. Ski & Snowboard said.
"To walk away with the first ever silver medal from dual moguls at the Olympics is pretty special," she told U.S. Ski & Snowboard after the dual moguls final, the event's Olympic debut.
Kauf lives in Salt Lake City, KSL and KPCW reported, and the U.S. team roster lists the University of Utah as her college.
Two silvers in four days
The moguls final came first, and it came from a long way back: she was 27th in the first qualification round on Feb. 10, by FIS records, before advancing through the second. In the final she scored 80.77 in the last run, behind teammate Liz Lemley's 82.30, and U.S. Ski & Snowboard said it was the first gold-silver finish for American women in an Olympic freestyle skiing event. KSL reported the scores.
"I put down runs I'm stoked with and that's all I wanted out of today. It's extra special to land on the podium," she said.
Dual moguls, a head-to-head knockout, was harder. Kauf crashed in her semifinal but advanced because her opponent did not finish, U.S. Ski & Snowboard reported, and then lost the big final to Australia's Jakara Anthony for silver.
"The game plan was to just come out, have fun, ski my runs and do what I can with that," she told KPCW.
A decade-plus on the U.S. team
Kauf was born in Vail, Colorado, and grew up in Alta, Wyoming, by Team USA's profile. U.S. Ski & Snowboard lists her clubs as the Grand Targhee Ski & Snowboard Foundation and the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, and lists her on the national team since 2016.
Her first World Cup podium came at Deer Valley: third in dual moguls on Feb. 6, 2016, by FIS records. At her first Olympics, PyeongChang 2018, she finished seventh in moguls. Four years later at Beijing 2022 she won silver.
Deer Valley, her best hill
Deer Valley has been one of her best hills. FIS records show her winning moguls at Deer Valley on Jan. 11, 2018, a day after finishing second there, then taking silver in dual moguls at the 2019 World Championships on the same hill. She was second in both events at Deer Valley in 2023 and again in 2024 before winning both in 2025. TownLift reported her winning moguls score that year as 80.75, and called Salt Lake City her current community.
The season that won three globes
Her 2024-25 season was the best of her career. FIS standings show her first in moguls, dual moguls and overall moguls, and U.S. Ski & Snowboard counts three Crystal Globes from it. She won 8 World Cup races that winter, FIS records show, including both events at Deer Valley: moguls on Feb. 6, 2025, and dual moguls on Feb. 8. She also won the dual moguls world title at the 2025 World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. That winter included a run of 14 straight World Cup podiums with eight wins, by FIS records.
She kept winning dual moguls in the Olympic season: Val St. Come, Canada, on Jan. 10, 2026, and Nanto-Toyama, Japan, on March 1, 2026, and FIS standings put her first in dual moguls for 2025-26.
Her record
- Olympics: seventh in moguls in 2018; silver in moguls in 2022; silver in moguls and dual moguls in 2026
- World Championships: five medals, dual moguls bronze in 2017, dual moguls silver in 2019 (at Deer Valley), moguls and dual moguls silver in 2023, and dual moguls gold in 2025
- World Cup: 18 wins and 53 podiums, by FIS and U.S. Ski & Snowboard
- Crystal Globes: moguls, dual moguls and overall, 2024-25
- U.S. Championships: seven titles, per U.S. Ski & Snowboard
Back to Deer Valley
U.S. Ski & Snowboard named Kauf to the moguls A team of the 2026-27 U.S. Freestyle Ski Team on Oct. 10, 2026, and said she leads the moguls group into the season alongside Lemley, the Olympic champion. FIS lists her first on its 2026-27 moguls points list.
The FIS calendar has the World Cup at Ruka, Finland, on Dec. 12, 2026, then Val St. Come, Canada (Jan. 15-16) and Waterville Valley, New Hampshire (Jan. 21-23), before Deer Valley on Jan. 28-30, 2027, with moguls and dual moguls on the program. The season ends at the 2027 World Championships in Montafon, Austria, in March.
