Marin Hamill, a freeski slopestyle and big air skier from Park City, Utah, finished second in the slopestyle World Cup at Laax, Switzerland, on Jan. 17, 2026, scoring 71.38 behind China's Eileen Gu and ahead of Austria's Lara Wolf. U.S. Ski & Snowboard said the podium made her the first confirmed woman on the slopestyle and big air side of the U.S. Olympic team.
"Podiuming in Laax means the world to me right now," she told U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
Six days later, in Aspen, she won the women's ski knuckle huck at the X Games, which the Park Record called her first X Games win or medal.
Park City's freeskier
U.S. Ski & Snowboard prints her hometown as Park City and her club as Park City Ski & Snowboard, and lists her on the national team since 2019. KSL's list of Utah's 2026 Winter Olympians called her a Park City native and resident and named the Winter Sports School, Park City Ski & Snowboard and the University of Utah beside her name. KPCW, reporting the Laax result, called her a Park City native.
She graduated from the University of Utah in spring 2025, where she studied financial planning, U.S. Ski & Snowboard says.
She still trains at home. She told the Park Record in June that her training happens at the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Center of Excellence in Park City "or at the Utah Olympic Park on the air bag."
"Park City has always been an iconic destination for freeski and snowboarding," she said in the same interview.
A first Olympics, and an injury
Hamill's results came early in her career. She was fourth in slopestyle at the 2017 Junior World Championships in Valmalenco, Italy, U.S. Ski & Snowboard reported, finished fifth at the 2021 World Championships in Aspen, and was second in the slopestyle World Cup at Font Romeu, France, on Jan. 16, 2022.
At Beijing 2022, her first Olympics, she was 12th in slopestyle and 14th in big air, FIS results show. The Park Record reported that she tore her ACL and meniscus at those Games, and BYU's Daily Universe reported that it happened in a fall on her second qualification run.
"It was pretty brutal," she told the Daily Universe.
Back to the Olympics
Her return built through the World Championships at Engadin in 2025, where she was 11th in slopestyle and 19th in big air, by FIS results, and into the 2025-26 season, when the Laax podium sealed her place in Milan. U.S. Ski & Snowboard counts six top-five World Cup finishes in her career.
She had finished fifth in the knuckle huck at the 2025 X Games, the Park Record noted, and KPCW reported her Laax result under the headline "Park City slopestyle skier first to clinch 2026 U.S. Olympic spot."
Her X Games week ended early: the Park Record reported that food poisoning cut it short before the slopestyle contest.
At the Games in Livigno she finished 16th in slopestyle qualification on Feb. 7, narrowly missing the final, the Park Record reported, and 22nd in big air qualification on Feb. 14, FIS results show.
"If I'm not having fun, I'm doing something wrong," she told the Daily Universe. "You ski your best when you're having fun."
After the Olympic season she took time away from the snow. "Olympic seasons are super stressful, and that takes a toll on the mind and body," she told the Park Record in June.
The 2026-27 season
U.S. Ski & Snowboard named her to the slopestyle and big air Pro Team of the 2026-27 Stifel U.S. Freeski Team on Oct. 9, 2026, listing her as "Marin Hamill (Park City, UT; Park City Ski & Snowboard; University of Utah; Big Mountain West Series)".
"I will also be competing in all the slopestyle World Cups," she told the Park Record. The big air World Cup starts sooner, at Innsbruck, Austria, on Nov. 26-27, 2026, and Beijing on Dec. 3-5, with later stops at Kreischberg, Austria, and Tignes, France, in January. The FIS calendar opens the women's slopestyle World Cup at Breckenridge, Colorado, on Dec. 10-12, 2026, returns to Laax on Jan. 13-16, 2027, and comes back to the United States at Aspen on Feb. 25-28, before the final at Silvaplana, Switzerland, on April 1-4. The FIS Freestyle World Championships are in Montafon, Austria, in March 2027, per U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
