On February 17, 2026, three Salt Lake Community College students stood on the same Olympic podium in Milan. Ethan Cepuran, Casey Dawson and Emery Lehman won silver for the United States in the men's speedskating team pursuit, finishing 4.51 seconds behind host Italy. Three days later, Corinne "Corie" Stoddard won bronze in the short-track 1,500 meters, and on February 21 Mia Manganello won bronze in the women's mass start.
Those five medalists were among 15 current and former SLCC students named to Team USA for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Fourteen of them competed; aerials skier Quinn Dehlinger withdrew injured. SLCC says the group produced 15 top-10 finishes, the most successful Olympic showing in the college's history.
This is the fourth episode of Utah Legends & Legacies. Episode two explained how SLCC's Beyond the Podium program works, the arrangement that lets these athletes compete for Team USA and take classes at SLCC around full-time training.
Who were SLCC's 2026 Olympians?
SLCC's roster graphic lists 12 speedskaters and three freestyle skiers, each with an area of study at the college:

- Emery Lehman, long track, Business
- Mia Manganello, long track, Business
- Corinne "Corie" Stoddard, short track, Emergency Medical Technician
- Erin Jackson, long track, Computer Science and Exercise Science/Kinesiology
- Giorgia Birkeland, long track, Exercise Science/Kinesiology
- Greta Myers, long track, Biology
- Conor McDermott-Mostowy, long track, General Studies
- Cooper McLeod, long track, Business
- Zach Stoppelmoor, long track, Business
- Kristen Santos-Griswold, short track, General Studies
- Quinn Dehlinger, aerials, Business
- Hunter Hess, halfpipe, Business
- Konnor Ralph, slopestyle and big air, Business
SLCC describes the group as current and former students and does not say which is which for each athlete.
The medalists
Team pursuit silver. Cepuran, Dawson and Lehman beat China by 7.93 seconds in the semifinal, then lost the final to Italy, which finished in 3:39.20. All three were on the U.S. team that won bronze in the event at Beijing 2022, and US Speedskating says this was the U.S. men's third Olympic team pursuit medal, after silver in 2010 and bronze in 2022. Milano Cortina was Lehman's fourth Olympics and Cepuran's second.
Each of the three also raced on his own. Dawson, from Park City, placed eighth in the 5,000 meters in 6:11.88. In the 1,500 meters, Lehman was 25th and Dawson 29th. Cepuran was ninth in his mass-start semifinal.
"Training can be isolating, especially if it's going rough," Cepuran says on SLCC's Beyond the Podium page.
Manganello's mass-start bronze. Manganello, from Crestview, Florida, finished third behind Marijke Groenewoud of the Netherlands and Canada's Ivanie Blondin on February 21. US Speedskating called it the first U.S. Olympic medal in the mass start, men's or women's, and her final career Olympic race. It was her third Games. SLCC says teammate Greta Myers, also a Beyond the Podium student, helped set her up before a counter move in the final 500 meters. Earlier in the Games, Manganello skated on the women's team pursuit team that finished fourth.
"This is a full-time job and commitment," Manganello says on SLCC's program page.
Stoddard's short-track bronze. Stoddard, from Tacoma, Washington, led most of the 1,500-meter final before South Korea's Kim Gil-li and Choi Min-jeong moved past with three laps left. She held off China's Yang Jingru and Italy's Arianna Fontana for bronze. US Speedskating says she became the first U.S. woman on an Olympic short-track podium since 2010. It came days after she crashed in her Milano Cortina debut; she was 24th in the 1,000 meters and 31st in the 500.
"Today was just to prove to myself that I can skate under the Olympic pressure," Stoddard said.
The other 10
Erin Jackson came to Milan as the defending Olympic champion at 500 meters, a title she won at Beijing 2022 while attending SLCC, the college says. This time she finished fifth in 37.32, 0.05 seconds behind bronze medalist Miho Takagi of Japan, and sixth in the 1,000 meters in 1:15.00. It was her third Olympics. Jackson already held an engineering degree from the University of Florida before earning an associate degree in computer science at SLCC. "I did it backwards," she told the college.
Conor McDermott-Mostowy, from Washington, D.C., placed ninth in the 1,000 meters in 1:08.48 in his Olympic debut. Teammate Jordan Stolz won that race in an Olympic record 1:06.28.
Greta Myers, from Lino Lakes, Minnesota, raced four events. She was 20th in the 3,000 meters and 29th in the 1,500 meters, reached the mass-start final and placed 12th, and skated the women's team pursuit bronze-medal race with Manganello and Brittany Bowe. Japan won that race, leaving the U.S. fourth.
Giorgia Birkeland, from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, skated the women's team pursuit semifinal with Manganello and Bowe, a 3:00.14 that sent the U.S. to the bronze-medal race. It was her second Olympics.
Cooper McLeod, from Kirkland, Washington, was 19th in the 1,000 meters and 22nd in the 500 meters in his first Olympics.
Zach Stoppelmoor, from West Des Moines, Iowa, placed 27th in the 500 meters in 35.42, also in his first Olympics.
Kristen Santos-Griswold, from Fairfield, Connecticut, placed fourth in the 1,000 meters at Beijing 2022. In Milan she finished third in her 1,000-meter quarterfinal, 0.034 seconds behind South Korea's Kim Gil-li, with only the top two advancing. In the 1,500 meters she was disqualified in the quarterfinals for a collision.
Konnor Ralph, a 23-year-old freeskier from Helena, Montana, placed fifth in the men's big air final with 178.00 points; his last jump scored 91.50. Norway's Tormod Frostad won with 195.50. Ralph was ninth in slopestyle after qualifying 10th. SLCC's March recap lists his big-air fifth among the group's results.
Hunter Hess, from Bend, Oregon, placed 10th in the men's halfpipe final. The gold went to Alex Ferreira, one of the Westminster University Olympians profiled in episode three.
Quinn Dehlinger, an aerials skier from Cincinnati, withdrew from competition after a knee injury in training, NBC Olympics reported. His Team USA profile lists Salt Lake Community College as his school.
The staff behind the team
Two more SLCC names work with US Speedskating. Jen Day, an SLCC associate professor of exercise science, is its sports dietitian, and SLCC said in January that she would join the team in Italy. Adam Callister, an SLCC alumnus, is an assistant coach of the U.S. short-track national team. SLCC's roster graphic lists 15 athletes and does not include either of them.
What comes next for Beyond the Podium
Chris Needham, who directs Beyond the Podium, said in January that SLCC had one of the largest student contingents at these Games, "second only to University of Utah." When the program launched in October 2025, he set a goal of supporting about 100 athletes in the lead-up to 2034. For more on that build, see our Utah 2034 Olympics hub, the Utah ski team's 18 national titles from episode one and the SLCC school page.
