The season so far
After exhibitions against Weber State (D'Errico's debut) and at Oregon, Utah swept Utah Valley and Utah Tech at the Utah Valley Tournament in Orem and Oregon State at the Huntsman Center. At its own Utah Classic it swept Wyoming, then lost 3-2 to Long Beach State and 3-1 to No. 2 Pittsburgh. It swept Utah State in Logan on September 11 and lost 3-1 to UCLA at the Huntsman Center two days later in a match televised on ESPN (preview). Sweeps of Air Force, Denver and Northern Colorado in Greeley followed.
Big 12 play opened with a sweep of No. 21 Colorado in Boulder on September 25; Utah's recap said the 9-3 start was the best in program history under a first-year head coach. On September 27 the Utes beat No. 17 Baylor 3-1 at the Huntsman Center for a fifth straight win, with Kamryn Gibadlo leading the team with 13 kills and Loryn Helgesen adding 12, according to Utah's recap.
What comes next
Utah plays at No. 19 Kansas on October 1 and at Kansas State on October 3, then hosts West Virginia on October 8 and No. 22 BYU on October 15, with rankings as Utah's schedule lists them.
