Cameron Zajer, an outside hitter from Adelaide, Australia, was named to the first team of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's 2025 two-year college All-Americans as a freshman at Salt Lake Community College, the AVCA's list shows. The SWAC also named her its 2025 Volleyball Player of the Year, SLCC reported.
"The freshman from Australia was a consistent performer all season for the Bruins," SLCC wrote in announcing the award.
She is a sophomore now, and SLCC, ranked No. 4, shares the 2026 SWAC title and hosts the Region 18 Tournament on Nov. 4-5, SLCC reported.
Adelaide to the Bruins
SLCC's roster lists her hometown as Adelaide, Australia, and her high school as Brighton Secondary. She stands 6 feet and wore No. 13 as a freshman before switching to No. 7 this season.
A freshman All-American
Zajer opened her college career with a career-high 20 kills in SLCC's first match, and later set a career high of 22 digs in the district final, SLCC reported. In September 2025 she was named the Bruin Bash Invitational MVP and conference Player of the Week after 54 kills in a week, including 19 in a five-set upset of No. 1 Miami Dade, which had been unbeaten. That week SLCC rose from No. 12 to No. 6 in the national poll, SLCC reported.
She led the Bruins again and again in conference play: 12 kills and five aces in a five-set win over Snow College on Sept. 26, a match-high 16 kills against No. 7 USU Eastern the next day, match-high 11-kill nights in straight-set wins over North Idaho on Oct. 2 and CSI on Oct. 4, the second of them SLCC's 10th straight win, and 12 kills at better than .500 hitting on Oct. 24, the night SLCC clinched the SWAC regular-season title, SLCC reported. The Scenic West named her Region 18 Player of the Year on its all-region first team.
Zajer had 354 kills and 50 aces at 3.31 kills per set when SLCC entered the 2025 NJCAA national tournament, SLCC reported, as the Bruins went 25-4 and won the SWAC regular-season and Region 18 titles. In the Region 18 final against Snow she had nine kills, four aces and 13 digs and made the all-tournament team. In the Rocky Mountain District final against Central Arizona on Nov. 10, her 17th kill ended the match, 15-7 in the fifth set, to send SLCC to nationals.
At nationals in Clarksville, Tennessee, SLCC was the No. 7 seed and placed seventh, finishing the year 27-6 with the SWAC regular-season, Region 18 and Rocky Mountain District titles, SLCC reported. In the consolation match, a sweep of in-state opponent Snow College, she had eight kills and four aces.
At nationals she had 15 kills in a four-set win over New Mexico Military Institute, 13 in a five-set loss to No. 2 seed Weatherford College and 15 in a five-set loss to Trinity Valley, SLCC reported.
Her freshman season ended with 405 kills, 57 aces, 277 digs and a .245 hitting percentage over 33 matches and 124 sets, by SLCC's statistics. The AVCA, previewing the 2026 season in August, described her as a 2025 AVCA and NJCAA first-team All-American, an NJCAA national all-tournament pick and the Region 18 Player of the Year.
