Salt Lake Community College men's soccer has not lost in 2026. The Bruins are 3-0-1 through four matches, they have scored 12 goals and conceded two, and they opened the season by shutting out two nationally ranked opponents in three days.
The unbeaten run now runs into the part of the schedule that decides their season: six Scenic West matches against Utah opponents, starting with a trip to Snow College on September 10.
Three shutouts to open, two of them against ranked teams
SLCC began on August 20 by beating No. 13 Arizona Western College 3-0 at home. Two days later it beat No. 18 Casper College 5-0. On August 27 it beat Northwest College 4-0.
Three matches, three clean sheets, 12 goals. Two of the three opponents were ranked nationally at the time, which is what separates the start from a soft opening run.
The Bruins have not conceded at home this season. They are 3-0 at home and have not yet won on the road.
The conference opener was the first real test
Scenic West play began on September 5 at USU Eastern in Price, and it ended 2-2 — SLCC's first dropped points and the first goals it had conceded all year.
That result matters to both programs. USU Eastern is 2-1-2 and it was the Eagles' conference opener too, played at Castleview Hospital Soccer Field. The two meet again on October 3, this time on SLCC's field, and a season series that opened level is now the clearest measuring stick either side has.
Six Utah opponents, and they are all conference matches
The in-state portion of SLCC's schedule is not scattered friendlies. Every Utah opponent on the regular-season calendar is a Scenic West Athletic Conference fixture, home and away:
- September 10 at Snow College, Ephraim
- October 3 vs. USU Eastern, Zions Bank Training Center, Herriman
- October 15 vs. Snow College, Zions Bank Training Center, Herriman
- September 5 at USU Eastern, Price — already played, 2-2
That is four conference matches against the two other Utah junior-college programs, split evenly between home and away. For SLCC, Snow and USU Eastern, the Scenic West is the route to the Region 18 tournament, so these are the fixtures that carry the most weight in the standings.
The three August matches that opened the season came before all of that, and the three matches before those did not count at all. SLCC played preseason scrimmages at Utah Tech on August 8, at Colorado Mesa on August 12 and at Westminster on August 15. Those are listed as scrimmages on the official schedule and produced no result — a distinction worth keeping straight, because the season did not actually begin until August 20.
What the rest of September looks like
After Snow College on September 10, SLCC goes to Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely on September 12, then returns home for two: Truckee Meadows Community College on September 17 and College of Southern Idaho on September 19, both at the Zions Bank Training Center in Herriman.
The month closes on the road again, at Pacific Northwest Christian College in Kennewick, Washington on September 24 and at North Idaho College in Worley on September 26. Those two trips are the longest of the regular season.
October brings the return fixtures: USU Eastern at home on October 3, Truckee Meadows away on October 8, College of Southern Idaho away on October 10, Snow College at home on October 15 and Colorado Northwestern at home on October 17.
What the record does and does not settle
Four matches is a real sample for a defence and a thin one for everything else. SLCC has conceded twice all season, and both goals came in the same match, against the one conference opponent it has faced.
The wins came against Arizona Western, Casper and Northwest — none of them Scenic West teams. So the unbeaten record is genuine, and the conference table is still effectively blank: SLCC is 0-0-1 in the Scenic West with one point from one match.
The next two conference fixtures, at Snow College and at Colorado Northwestern inside three days, will say considerably more than the first four matches did.
