USU Eastern men's soccer played its first four matches of 2026 in four different states, and came home with a winning record. The Eagles are 2-1-2 after opening in Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming and Nebraska, then drawing their home opener with Salt Lake Community College.
Price has seen them once. The rest of September brings three more away days and two home matches, and the Scenic West table is still almost empty.
Four states in ten days
The season began on August 20 with a 1-0 win at Mohave Community College in Bullhead City, Arizona. Two days later the Eagles beat College of Southern Nevada 6-0 in Henderson — their biggest result of the season by a distance.
The Wyoming and Nebraska legs were harder. USU Eastern drew 1-1 at Casper College on August 27, then lost 3-2 at Western Nebraska Community College on August 29. That is the only defeat on the record so far.
Across those four road matches the Eagles scored 10 and conceded four. Two wins, a draw and a one-goal loss is a reasonable return for a team that had not played at home yet.
The three fixtures before all of that did not count. USU Eastern's scheduled August 8 home match against Utah United U20 was canceled, and the trips to Westminster on August 13 and Colorado Mesa on August 16 are both listed as scrimmages on the official schedule. The season proper started in Bullhead City.
The home opener was also the conference opener
Salt Lake Community College visited Castleview Hospital Soccer Field on September 5, and the match finished 2-2.
It was the first Scenic West fixture of the year for both programs and the first time either had dropped points in conference play, because it was the first conference match either had played. SLCC arrived unbeaten at 3-0-0 having conceded nothing all season; USU Eastern took two goals off them.
The two meet again on October 3 in Salt Lake City. A season series that opened level is the clearest measuring stick either side has, and both are chasing the same Region 18 route.
Five Utah dates, four of which count
USU Eastern's Utah opponents this season are SLCC and Snow College, twice each, plus the Westminster scrimmage that opened the preseason.

September continues at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely on September 10, then Snow College on September 12. The Eagles return to Price to host College of Southern Idaho on September 17 and Truckee Meadows Community College on September 19, before the longest trip of the year: North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene on September 24 and Pacific Northwest Christian College in Kennewick, Washington on September 26.
October reverses most of those pairings. USU Eastern is at SLCC on October 3, at College of Southern Idaho on October 8 and at Truckee Meadows on October 10, then home for Colorado Northwestern on October 15 and Snow College on October 17.
What the record does and does not settle
Five matches in, the Eagles have a positive goal difference and one conference point. Those two facts are not in tension — they have played one conference match.
The scoring has been uneven. Six of the 12 goals came in a single afternoon in Henderson, and the four other matches produced six between them. The defence has conceded in three straight after opening with a shutout.
What the record does establish is that a young schedule of road matches did not break the season before it started. USU Eastern went into four states without a home match to fall back on and came out 2-1-1. The conference season, which is the part that decides anything, has barely begun.
