Zoe Atkin, a freeski halfpipe skier who grew up in Park City, Utah, won bronze for Great Britain in the women's halfpipe at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games on Feb. 22, 2026, in Livigno. Her final run scored 92.50, behind China's Eileen Gu, who won with 94.75, and Fanghui Li.

GB Snowsport called it Great Britain's first Olympic freeski halfpipe medal. Team GB said it was the team's fifth medal of the Games, at her second Olympics.

She told Team GB that "to be able to come back to the Olympics and be on the podium means so much to me."

How the final went

Atkin qualified first on Feb. 19, FIS results show. In the final she opened with 90.50 and was bumped down into third by Fanghui Li and Eileen Gu, GB Snowsport reported. Her 92.50 on the last run, which included a switch right cork 900, secured the bronze.

At Beijing 2022, her first Games, she finished ninth, FIS records show.

A sister's medal first

Her older sister, Izzy Atkin, won slopestyle bronze at PyeongChang 2018, which Team GB describes as its first Olympic medal on skis. Zoe said that result had shaped hers.

She told GB Snowsport after the final that "watching her in 2018 has always been such a big moment of inspiration for me and she's always been my biggest role model."

"I definitely think Izzy and I should weigh our medals and see which one is heavier," she told Team GB.

From Massachusetts to Park City

Stanford's profile of its 2026 Olympians says Atkin is from Newton, Massachusetts, grew up skiing on weekends in Maine, and moved to Park City at 9, when the family relocated because Izzy was a rising talent in slopestyle. GB Snowsport prints her hometown as Park City, UT, USA.

She is a graduate of the Winter Sports School in Park City, TownLift reported, and KSL's list of Utah's 2026 Winter Olympians, drawn from the Utah Sports Commission, names the Winter Sports School, Park City Ski & Snowboard and Wasatch Freestyle beside her name. TownLift called her a Park City resident when she secured her Olympic spot in January 2026, and reported that she represents Great Britain through her English father. Team GB describes her as a dual citizen born in the United States.

The 2019 World Championships were held in Park City, and she finished 13th in the halfpipe there, FIS records show. Her first World Cup win came that December, at Copper Mountain, Colorado, on Dec. 13, 2019. GB Snowsport notes she was 16.

A world title and two Crystal Globes

FIS records show a full set of World Championship medals: bronze at Aspen in 2021, silver at Bakuriani, Georgia, in 2023 and gold at Engadin, Switzerland, on March 30, 2025. Team GB noted that the 2025 gold completed the set.

She won the halfpipe Crystal Globe in 2024-25, with a win at Aspen on Feb. 2, 2025, and second places at Copper Mountain and Calgary in her FIS results.

Her FIS results list four World Cup halfpipe podiums in the Olympic winter: second at Secret Garden, China, on Dec. 13, 2025, first at Copper Mountain on Dec. 20, second at Buttermilk in Aspen on Jan. 10, 2026, and first at Silvaplana, Switzerland, on March 29, 2026. That last win sealed the globe for the second time, with a 70-point lead over Australia's Indra Brown in the final standings, GB Snowsport reported.

She also won X Games gold in January 2026 with 94.66, 4.66 points ahead of Indra Brown, GB Snowsport reported, after winning in 2023 and taking silver in 2024.

Stanford and skiing

Atkin, 23 at the Games, was a senior at Stanford and a symbolic systems major, the university reported in February 2026. She took leave in the fall and winter to compete in the Olympic season and planned to return to campus in the spring.

"I never really expected to become a pro skier. But I always wanted to go to college," she told Stanford.

The 2026-27 season

GB Snowsport named her to its 2026-27 Freeski World Cup Squad on Oct. 28, 2026, listing "Zoe Atkin (Halfpipe)". The FIS calendar opens the women's halfpipe World Cup at Secret Garden, China, on Dec. 10-12, 2026, then Copper Mountain on Dec. 18-20. The tour returns to North America for Calgary on Feb. 16-18, 2027, and Aspen on Feb. 25-28, with the World Championships at Montafon, Austria, in March and the final at Silvaplana on April 1-4, 2027.
