About BYU Gymnastics

Natalie Broekman was named head coach on May 4, 2026, after serving as associate head coach from 2021 to 2026 and as an assistant from 2015 to 2021, according to her BYU staff bio. Brogan Evanson is associate head coach, and Shannon Evans and Makenna Giles are assistant coaches.

The 2026 season

BYU opened by beating No. 7 Oregon State 195.675-194.525 at the Marriott Center and finished 11-9, as its schedule page counts each opponent in a multi-team meet. The high point came at Clemson on March 13: a 197.225-197.175 win, the program's best score since 2022, with a 49.550 on beam that ranks third all-time, by BYU's releases.

At the Big 12 Championship on March 21, BYU reached the evening session of the top four teams for the first time and placed third with 196.175. Guard Young, then head coach, was named Big 12 Coach of the Year. The season ended at the NCAA Tempe Regional on April 2, where BYU scored 196.250 and placed third behind Michigan State (197.350) and Georgia (197.125). BYU finished ranked No. 22, a figure RoadToNationals' final rankings also show.

Program history

BYU's nationals history page lists eight NCAA Championships appearances, from 1991 to 2005, with a best finish of eighth in 1991. BYU's selection release counted 2026 as its 13th straight NCAA Regionals appearance. The program's record team score is 198.025 against Utah State on March 12, 2004.
